Slow Bolt Cilantro is bred to handle warmth longer before flowering, but it’s still a cool-season herb. Direct sow outdoors because cilantro has a taproot and dislikes transplanting. Sow in early spring as soon as soil is workable, and again in late summer/early fall for the best flavor; in hot climates, sow during the cooler months. Plant seeds about 0.5–1 cm (¼–½ in) deep, lightly cover, and keep the topsoil evenly moist until germination, usually 7–14 days. Cilantro seeds are actually little seed clusters—gently crush each cluster in your fingers before sowing to improve sprout rate. Choose full sun in cool weather, but in warm areas give morning sun and light afternoon shade. Thin seedlings to about 10–15 cm (4–6 in) apart for leafy growth.

Keep moisture steady; drought stress makes cilantro bolt faster and taste stronger. Water when the top few cm of soil dry out, and mulch to cool the root zone.
