Super Sugar Snap is a cool-season, climbing snap pea that loves mild weather. Direct sow outdoors as soon as soil can be worked in early spring, or in late summer/early fall for a second crop where winters are mild. Peas don’t like transplanting, so sow straight into the garden. Plant seeds 2–3 cm (about 1 inch) deep and about 5 cm (2 inches) apart, then thin to 8–10 cm (3–4 inches). Choose full sun to light shade and well-drained soil enriched with compost. Install a trellis, net, or strings at planting time—vines grow 1.5–2 m (5–6 ft) and need support. Keep soil evenly moist until germination, usually 7–14 days in cool conditions.
