The Money Plant (commonly Epipremnum aureum, also called Pothos) is very easy to grow and care for. However, it’s important to know that money plants are rarely grown from seeds. Most money plants do not produce viable seeds, especially indoors. They are almost always grown from cuttings.
That said, I’ll explain both cases so you’re fully covered 🌱
🌱 Growing Money Plant from Seeds (Rare Case)
If you truly have seeds (often confused with other “money plants” like Pachira aquatica or Lunaria), follow these steps:
1. Seed Preparation
• Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 12 24 hours
• This helps soften the seed coat and improves germination
2. Soil Mix
Use light, well-draining soil:
• Garden soil 40%
• Coco peat or peat moss 30%
• Sand or perlite 30%
3. Sowing
• Plant seeds ½ inch deep
• Space them a few inches apart
• Cover lightly with soil
4. Watering
• Keep soil moist, not soggy
• Use a spray bottle for gentle watering
5. Light & Temperature
• Bright, indirect sunlight
• Ideal temperature: 18 30°C (65 86°F)
6. Germination
• Seeds may sprout in 2 4 weeks
• Be patient and avoid overwatering
