Cherry Belle Radishes are frost-tolerant annual vegetables that perform best during cool weather. Sow seeds outdoors approximately 4–6 weeks before the average last spring frost date, as soon as the soil is workable and has reached at least 40°F (4°C). Continue making small successive plantings every 1–2 weeks until late spring for a steady harvest. Sow again in late summer or early fall, approximately four weeks before the expected first fall frost.

Seeds germinate best when soil temperatures remain between approximately 55–75°F (13–24°C), although Cherry Belle can be planted when soil temperatures are above 40°F (4°C). Radishes generally grow best when daytime temperatures remain below 80°F (27°C). Prolonged hot weather may cause the plants to bolt, develop hollow or woody roots, and produce an excessively strong or bitter flavor.

How to Grow Cherry Belle Radish Heirloom Seeds

Direct sowing is strongly recommended because radish roots are sensitive to disturbance and generally do not transplant well. Plant the seeds directly in their permanent garden bed, raised bed, or container.

Choose a planting location that receives full sun to partial shade. At least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily encourages rapid growth and well-developed roots. In warmer climates, light afternoon shade may help protect the plants from excessive heat and extend the spring growing season.

Plant Cherry Belle Radishes in loose, fertile, well-drained soil. Sandy or loamy soil rich in organic matter allows the roots to develop into smooth, uniform spheres. How to Care for Cherry Belle Radish Plants

Apply a thin layer of organic mulch around established seedlings to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and maintain a cooler, more consistent soil temperature. Fine compost, shredded leaves, or clean straw can be used, but avoid burying the young plants.

Radishes grow quickly and usually require only moderate fertility. Do not leave mature radishes in the ground for an extended period. During warm weather, the roots can quickly lose their tender texture and mild flavor. Harvest promptly by holding the leaves near the soil surface and gently pulling the entire plant upward.

After harvesting, remove the leafy tops to prevent them from drawing moisture from the roots.
